    Centrifugal Pumps

    Centrifugal pumps transport liquids by applying mechanical energy to the energy of a moving fluid. The rotational energy typically comes from an engine or electric motor or turbine. The fluid enters the pump impeller along a rotating axis and is accelerated to flow radially outward into a diffuser or casing from which it exits. A centrifugal pump containing two or more impellers is called a multistage centrifugal pump. Centrifugal pumps are commonly used in water, sewage, petroleum and petrochemical pumping applications. Sand pumps, submersible slurry pumps, shear pumps, and charging pumps are examples of centrifugal pumps that perform different functions.
