PUMP EXPRESS TO LAUNCH NEW E-COMMECE SITE

Pump Express will launch a new e-commerce site in spring 2013 geared to the light commercial and residential markets. The new site, to be called PumpProducts.com, will bring top-brand pumping equipment directly to customers seeking pumps that perform effectively in demanding applications.

“Up until a few years ago, the average person didn’t think much about their pumping equipment,” says PumpExpress.com’s pump product expert Craig McCrickard. “If you lived in a flood zone you might check on your sump pump in the spring but that’s about it. The megastorms we’ve seen in recent years changed that, particularly in hard hit areas like the Northeast. Today homeowners are not only looking for reliable sump pumps but also back-up systems that will kick in if the power goes out.”

McCrickard is part of a team assembled to raise the bar on what on-line pump shoppers are offered in terms of selection and information. The new venture will incorporate best practices used by veteran on-line retailers including pull-down menus, shopper reviews and buyers guides into an easy-to-use shopping site devoted to pumps, repair parts and accessories. A limited selection of electric motors and generators will also be offered.

“There’s been a lot of opportunity for road testing during the last few years with several manufacturers emerging as clear leaders.” says McCrickard. “Zoeller, Liberty Pumps and PHCC Pro Series are the three main wastewater pump manufacturers we’ll be focusing on. We plan to offer their sump, sewage and effluent pumps as stand-alone units and packaged systems. BJM puts out a great line of shredder pumps that we’ll be introducing a lot of customers to.”

The new site will also offer pumps for the full range of domestic non-wastewater applications including HVAC, recirculation and irrigation.

“The main thing that distinguishes PumpPoduct.com from Pump Express, our flagship site, is a shopping cart,” says General Manager Ed Drejman. “PumpExpress.com will continue to provide essential pump sizing and selection services to the commercial and industrial clients who require it, while PumpProducts.com will cater to the on-line shopper who has a pretty good idea of what he or she needs and is primarily interested in getting a quality pump at the best price.”

Pump Express is adding BJM’s new single-phase, high temperature pumps to its catalog. The new pumps mark the addition of a small commercial grade model to BJM’s Fahrenheit (F-Series) line, designed to operate in liquids too hot for conventionally built submersible pumps (140-200°F). The single phase model rounds out BJM’s extensive line of high temperature pumps.

“Three years ago we came up with a high temperature, three phase pump that has taken off very nicely for us,” says Jay Gallagher, BJM’s Regional Sales Manger. “Since then we’ve been getting requests for the same pump in a single phase model from people who use steam in their heating. The single phase line is suitable for smaller applications like apartment buildings and college campus (dormitories) requiring pumps with 120 and 220 voltage. BJM is the only manufacturer in the industry offering a range this complete.”

All single phase Fahrenheit pumps are supplied with a control panel, with starting components, as standard equipment. The pumps are offered in both cast iron and 316 stainless steel for corrosive liquids. They are available in dewatering and trash handling designs.

“I believe this will become a very strong line within our robust commercial and high occupancy dwelling market segment,” says Pump Express Sales Manager Fred Hettinger who was instrumental in securing an exclusive Metro-area distribution agreement centering on BJM’s commercial wastewater pumps last year.

“We’ve seen a steady demand for BJM’s powerful Shredder Pump,” says Hettinger of a submersible wastewater pump designed to shear debris before pumping it. “Since signing on with BJM we’ve found that more and more of our customers who trust us to provide them with top notch engineering and product support have been embracing the shredder pump equipment and it has ultimately become the gold standard in problematic sewage ejector pump applications. I believe that this new product line is going to further enrich our already strong offerings.”
